American Gangster

American Gangster

Wellll. It's been awhile. Sorry about that.

David, Spenser, Adrian, Mitch, and I all went to see American Gangster last night. The initial plan was to go to the drive-in and see it, but having to eat dinner and chairs not fitting in Mitch's car kinda ruined that idea. It was a good movie, not my favorite thing ever. I wanted to fall asleep in the beginning, but it got better. I usually really like Denzel Washington, especially in Man on Fire (first movie I ever cried at), but I think I only like him when he's the good guy.

That's all I really feel like talking about now.

I'm going to California on Thursday.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

May 17, 2008 :: Saturday

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

OH MY GOODNESS. This movie was absolutely FANTASTIC.

I, of course, loved "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" and I loved "Prince Caspian" equally as much. I did read the book before seeing the movie, and surprisingly, this is one of the fews times that I wasn't disappointed by the movie adaptation. It was SO. GOOD.

But yes, I laughed, I cried. The cast was still amazing. All four of those kids have grown up so much, and I'm still pretty much obsessed with all of them.

Ben Barnes, who played Prince Caspian, did a pretty good job, but I didn't fall in love with him. I didn't feel like his acting was amazing, especially in comparison with the main four. I'm pretty much mesmerized with Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy anyway. Especially the High King Peter. Tee hee hee. How old is he again?

Anyway, though, I'm currently in the middle of reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader whose film adaptation is set to be released May 7, 2010.

Interesting information that I'm not sure how many of you know already so I hope I'm not insulting your intelligence: the seven books in the series were published out of chronological order. The films are following the order of publication.

Publication order:
  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
  • Prince Caspian
  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  • The Silver Chair
  • The Horse and His Boy
  • The Magician's Nephew
  • The Last Battle
Chronological order:
  • The Magician's Nephew
  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
  • The Horse and His Boy
  • Prince Caspian
  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  • The Silver Chair
  • The Last Battle
I'm currently reading through the series in chronological order.

C.S. Lewis was such a genius. I'm a sucker for intricately woven and well-planned-out tales of fiction (see: my obsession with Harry Potter).

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

October 11, 2008 :: Saturday

I interrupt my weekend of sickness to bring you the following news:

Tim Burton is directing a live-action and CGI version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!

These paintings have nothing to do with the upcoming film, but I own this darling set of prints from The Black Apple who you must check out<br />because her artwork is amazing.

This version of the classic stories is featuring three of my favorite actors: Anne Hathaway (White Queen), Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen), and Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter). I cannot wait until March 5th, 2010. The movie is currently being filmed.

I absolutely love Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. "Alice in Wonderland" is my second favorite Disney movie, and I own multiple copies of the book. I am always on the lookout for different copies.

I am now going to go swoon over the fact that Johnny Depp is playing the Mad Hatter.

Eagle Eye

October 25, 2008 :: Saturday

No need to give excuses for my absence. Moving right along...

Last night, my friends and I went to see Eagle Eye.

"Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move." [Taken from IMDB.] That synopsis doesn't really do the film justice, so I highly recommend watching the trailer. The trailer is what got me.

HOLY CRAP, this movie totally sucked me in; I loved it, I absolutely loved it. I don't usually love action movies, but the cast, acting, and plot line was amazing. Also, I love Shia LaBeouf. And Michelle Monaghan is so pretty, I couldn't stop looking at her. I immediately fell in love with the main characters. People all around me were literally on the edge of their seats for much of the movie. You were always wondering what would happen next, and I don't remember the film being that predictable. I was sitting with my hand clasped over my mouth for almost all of the movie. It was just so good. You need to see it.

I just wanted you all to know how much I freaking loved this movie. It's one of those movies that you can't stop thinking about after it's over. Everyone needs to see it. :)
